ARTFUL ENDEAVORS: ART STUDENTS LEAGUE OF NEW YORK ON PAINTING

Art Students League of New York on Painting: Lessons and Meditations on Mediums, Styles, and Methods is one of the coolest books you’ll come across this fall and it goes on sale this month to great acclaim.

As you likely know, The Art Students League of New York is America’s signature art school, run by artists for artists. This coffee table and instructional book invites the reader into the studio classrooms of some the League's most acclaimed and beloved instructors for lessons on fundamental topics and approaches in painting. The book is divided into three sections: Lessons and Demos; Advice and Philosophies; and Interviews. Richly illustrated with artwork from the League's considerable archives, its instructors, and its students, the book is meant as a source of inspiration and enrichment for painters of all levels, as well as for appreciators of art in general.

We love how it engages the reader by featuring inspiration, stories, and lessons from 18 Art Students League instructors, including: Ellen Eagle, Henry Finkelstein, Knox Martin, Mary Beth McKenzie, Ronnie Landfield and Sharon Sprung.

The book will launch at the Art Students League on Monday, November 30, 2015 with a panel discussion with Rick Brosen, Knox Martin, Naomi Campbell, Sharon Sprung, Jillian Russo, Ronnie Landfield, and others, led by James L. McElhinney.
