ROSES FOR CHARITY: THE 9TH ANNUAL HOLLY ROSE RIBBON FOUNDATION DINNER

So many causes, so little time. Recently, however, we made time for this one when everything was coming up roses at the 9th Annual Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation Dinner at Fleming's River Oaks that was sold out to the restaurant’s capacity before a single invitation could be mailed. Over 200 guests attended the “Shade of Roses” dinner which raised $100,000 and included a wine-pairing five-course dinner and a fete of the best wines from around the world, thanks to Fleming’s River Oaks and operating partner Sam Governale. What’s not to love about that?

The event was chaired by Kim Padgett, Jessica Rossman, and John Evatz, and honored Diane Caplan and Alex Martinez with the Tracey Hilfman Award. Founders of the foundation, Dr. Franklin and Cindi Rose, and their children, Erica Rose and Ben Rose, with his fiancée Laura Max Nelson, presented the award to the honorees.

The highlight of the evening was a proclamation from Mayor Annise Parker declaring Sept. 14, 2014 Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation Day in Houston. The charity, named for Cindi Rose’s late sister Holly Skolkin, helps uninsured patients in need of reconstructive surgery after undergoing cancer treatment.
