AM I BLUE? BLUE CURE FOUNDATION LUNCHEON EVENT IN HOUSTON, THAT IS

Blue Cure Foundation recently wowed Houston with their fourth annual lecture series luncheon. With Erin Brockovich featured as the event’s guest speaker, Blue Cure presented a captivating message on the environmental factors that contribute to preventative health, along with announcing a new vision and mission statement and a six-city tour to kick off Men’s Health Month in June.

We love that the foundation’s honorary chairs Carolyn Farb and Vivian Wise, along with chairs Angela and Owen Daniels and Chita and Lane Craft brought the event to life at the Hilton Houston Post Oak, where emcee KHOU’s Chita Craft presented a stirring video outlining Blue Cure’s new initiatives to fund research examining lifestyle factors that can improve prostate cancer outcomes and decrease incidences of cancer diagnoses – adding and building on its core education and advocacy programs.

Brockovich enthralled the audience of nearly 300 guests, followed by audience cheers for a heartfelt speech by Honoree Ryan Chase of KRBE’s The Roula & Ryan Show, whose prostate cancer is currently in remission. The event, previously cancelled twice, was truly a testament to the pure grit and determination of Blue Cure’s philanthropic spirit. The Blue Cure Lecture Series Lunch was first postponed due to Hurricane Harvey, and, once rescheduled, again postponed following an illness Erin Brockovich battled in March. As the primary annual fundraiser for the organization, the delays proved to be a turning point, providing founder Gabe Canales with a clear vision on how the foundation needed to evolve.

At the luncheon, he announced a new vision and mission statement, along with a six-city tour to further spread the refined message: Blue Cure funds research examining how lifestyle factors can improve prostate cancer outcomes and decrease incidence and exists in order to empower men with critical information to make healthy lifestyle choices to prevent prostate cancer and improve outcomes for those with prostate cancer.

Benefactors and supporters in the crowd included: the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Center, Naturepedic Organic Mattresses, Dr. Lorenzo Cohen and Alison Jeffries, Beth Muecke, Monica Hartland, Dr. Aashish Shah and Roseann Rogers, John Jamail Jr., Wallis Marsh, Jim McClellan, Geni and Chad Gonsoulin, Jennifer Bosch, Tracy Faulkner, Ryan Chase, Roula Christie, Betty Hrncir, Matthew Palmer, Brian Spack, Roya and Massoud Taghdisi, Rachel and Don Hooper, Taylor Sherman, Chris Marajas, Sherri and Brittany Zucker, and Paul-David Van Atta who graciously donated his event production services.
