...LUFTHANSA’S NEW A380 DIRECT FLIGHT FROM HOUSTON TO FRANKFURT? YES, PLEASE!

Earlier this week on Wednesday, Lufthansa(www.lufthansa.com) was the very first airline to offer daily scheduled Airbus A380 service from Frankfurt to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and the Lone Star State, from the gorgeous commerce capital of Germany: Frankfurt.

We love that Lufthansa has invested in direct flights from Houston since 1985. It means the company believes in how important Texas is to the world, as do we.

Frankfurt, as you know, is the capital of banking and commerce in Germany and is stunning as well, with beautiful people, amazing German food and a thriving cultural scene with over 200 museums to visit while there. It’s a great place to go to for business of pleasure and Lufthansa understands that.

Why is the new, non-stop flight such a milestone? Simply put, Lufthansa’s new A380 service increases capacity between Houston’s active oil and energy business to more than 50 industry-related regions around the world. That’s important. Plus, connecting in Frankurt is a way of life to get to much more far-flung global capitals of commerce and industry.

In fact, Lufthansa’s Oil & Energy Club provides benefits, including membership in the carrier’s Miles & More frequent flyer program, to employees of oil- and natural gas-producing and extracting companies who make frequent trips to oil destinations. The even more glam HON Circle provides a more rarified usage of the airline’s First Class club privileges based on frequent flying opportunities.

We love that eligible Lufthansa passengers can access the Executive Club operated by the Houston Airport System. As we all know, Lufthansa’s key competitors in Houston are Delta, Air France-KLM, Emirates, Qatar Airways and British Airways. The top-drawer airline Lufthansa works closely with 27 Fortune 500 companies that are headquartered in Texas, among them ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, ConocoPhillips, Marathon Oil, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, and KBR. Others that have US Headquarters and major operations in Houston are Saudi Aramco, British Petroleum, Shell Oil, Chevron, Siemens, BASF, and Bayer AG. Now that’s big business.

We wondered what the top 10 destinations for Lufthansa passengers originating from Houston were and found out that it includes Frankfurt, Germany; Lagos, Nigeria; Mumbia, India; Rome, Italy; Moscow, Russia; Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Delhi, India; Barcelona, Spain; Beirut, Lebanon; and Tel Aviv, Israel. It turns out that theGeorge Bush Intercontinental Airport served 40,479,569 passengers in 2010, making it the seventh busiest airport for total passengers in North America.

We love Frankfurt and Lufthansa and recommend it highly to anyone considering a genuinely wonderful experience of flyin’ high at a superior level.
