Either way, you’re in luck, because this spring’s Austin Modern Home Tour on Saturday, March 5 features twelve of Austin’s most unique homes for you to explore. Whether you’re inspired by stunning hilltop views or artsy hip houses, you’ll have ample opportunities to get inspired to build or buy a home of your own.

If you’ve always wanted to design and build your own home, don’t miss your chance at Design-Build special event the following Sunday, March 6. This four-hour special event will go in-detail about every step of the modern custom home building experience. Featuring Lex Zarun from Newcastle Homes and Jared Haas from un.box studio, attendees will get exceptional insight into the processes, challenges, costs and opportunities for anyone who wants to create their own unique modern living space in Austin.

During the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Frank Farkash of Moonstower Design Build, who created a homeowner’s perfect, warm and minimalistic space with just 1,100 square feet.

Designing with a simple palette and close-quartered neighbors in mind, Farkash utilized exposed plywood and structural elements, blackened steel, clear sealed cedar and pine, and up-and-out window and door view to open up the small East Austin home.

You won’t want to miss Kipp Flores Architects’ hilltop modern home with balcony views stretching out eight to ten miles. Built with Thurman Homes, this vibrant, wood-framed design is efficiently constructed with clean, subtle angles, an environmentally controlled heating and cooling crawlspace, and disguised appliances that blend in with each room’s design.
