ESTATE SALE DELUXE: SETTLEMENT HOME IN AUSTIN TO HAPPEN IN NOVEMBER

Some call it the greatest show on earth. We couldn’t agree more. For collectors of all types, a cornucopia for collecting almost here. It turns out that one of the most unique fundraisers in Austin is celebrating its 42nd year, a true milestone for city and the organization: The Annual Settlement Home for Children Garage & Estate Sale which takes place Thursday, November 2 – Sunday, November 5 at Palmer Events Center at 900 Barton Springs Road.

Named the largest charity sale in Texas, The Settlement Home Garage & Estate Sale is a year-long effort that culminates into four days of shopping. It’s one of our favorite events in the state of the year, in fact. Organized and led by members of The Settlement Club, the Garage & Estate Sale boasts an impressive and diverse inventory of merchandise, all of which has been donated by the community. More than 25,000 shoppers will browse for treasures and bargain-priced deals in our 21 well-organized departments. We learned that the funds raised do a tremendous amount of goodness for such a worthwhile charity.

All proceeds from the Garage & Estate Sale go to The Settlement Home for Children, an Austin non-profit that cares for children with histories of severe trauma, abuse and neglect. Programs include a residential treatment center, group home program, transitional living program and foster and adoption program for individuals with histories of severe trauma, abuse and neglect. Gearing up for its 102nd year in 2018, The Settlement Home provides housing, food, schooling, therapy and hope to children who are trying to heal from the pain of abuse and neglect.

On Sunday, The Settlement Home hosts its own community outreach program Giving for Living Program. Through this program, vouchers are provided to more than 75 area non-profits and schools within AISD and Dell Valle ISD. The recipients are empowered to shop and select the times they want and like at The Sale. Giving for Living allows The Settlement Home to not only support its own mission, but to also support the work and missions of other area non-profits and families in need within Central Texas schools. The mission of The Settlement Home for Children is to promote healing and growth to children, young adults and families by providing a continuum of care, support and resources. They serve individuals with histories of abuse, neglect, and severe emotional trauma. More information is available at http://www.settlementhome.org
