Texas is home to plenty of inspiring architecture, and we love it when homeowners and designers strive to bring contemporary styles into their homes. That’s why we can’t wait for the Austin Modern Home Tour, which allows access to private properties that are pioneering Modernist architecture in our city. The eighth annual tour is February 7th from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and features 16 breathtaking homes.
Not only can you experience the stunning interior designs of these style-forward homes, but you’ll have the opportunity to meet the architects and builders that planned and brought these visions to life. Meet Adam Reiser of Shelter Home Building who is developing a new movement of 100% toxic free residences. Along with architect Gordon Wittenberg, Reiser takes environmentally-friendly building a step further and envisions clean, harmonious homes for truly healthy living. Ingrid Spencer, curator of the Austin Modern Home Tour, will be in attendance as well. Spencer’s 50s ranch-style home had small, closed-in rooms and dark halls — until she worked with architects to knock down walls, add floor-to-ceiling glass doors, and open up the space for a tremendous transformation.
The homes on the tour may just inspire you to undertake that remodeling plan you’ve been thinking about. In any case, the creative construction and aesthetic beauty are a treat in themselves. If you live in Austin, you won’t want to miss this chance. And if you’re from out of town, why not come on down and make a weekend of it?
Tickets are $30 in advance and can be purchased at:
