Love a great museum party? So do we. The Blanton Museum's art party series returns this Friday, March 6 with a stylish night of swinging soul music, exquisite exhibitions, and delectable edibles.

Wear your dancing shoes and get down with great live R&B, snack on southern soul food by local Hoover's Cooking, and of course, take in the current exhibition: Witness: Art and Civil Rights in the Sixties. This exhibition is not to be missed. Featuring works by dozens of the most influential artists of the 20th century, this art show features powerful expressions from one of the most important periods in modern American history: the fight to end institutional and cultural racism. Artists, as usual, have a special ability to capture the zeitgeist for the sake of history and remembrance. Indeed, America still has much to learn from this period of social upheaval.

Not sure what to wear? Take a cue from the featured musical guests and get ready to groove. Local band The Soul Supporters will help you shake your thing with their R&B and blues concoction of “retro-soul” and old-school inspired originals. Then DJ Mahogany Dane will take the stage and spin her favorite R&B classics to keep you in the groove.
