SOCIAL CLIMBING 101: CRUX CLIMBING CENTER IS SCALING NEW HEIGHTS

Ok, all you Social Climbers, want to get fit faster in the upcoming year? Here’s how now. Try Crux Climbing Center, a fitness center focused on bringing together climbers of all skillsets. It’s expanding its 22,000-square-foot facility in South Austin (opened in 2016) and includes additional parking availability and a complete renovation of the historic beverage barn located on the northwest corner of South Congress Avenue and Pickle Road.

The new building is slated to open in early 2019 and will expand on Crux’s existing fitness offerings, including weightlifting, strength and conditioning, and more. The new space will also feature saunas, a bottle shop and an outdoor area for community workouts and events. It’s a colorful environment that practically encourages better fitness just by its visual aesthetic. Plus, Kevin Goradia is the climbing guru to encourage your efforts.

We like that Crux’s current facility features rope climbing, bouldering, strength training, fitness and yoga classes, locker rooms, a kids’ area and a co-working space. The center also hosts member appreciation events, industry nights, summer camps and nationally renowned climbing competitions that draw some of the sport’s most decorated athletes, including its annual Come and Send It Fest.
