It’s that time. When you can officially wear a white dinner jacket, after Memorial Day, and not in the winter according to uninformed Hollywood stylists who dress their male clients in them in February, it will feel like a breath of fresh air.
In Casino Royale (2006), with Daniel Craig’s triumphant return to the Land of Bond, a piece of dialogue fully illustrates our point:
James Bond: I have a dinner jacket.
Vesper Lynd: There are dinner jackets and dinner jackets; this is the latter. And I need you looking like a man who belongs at that table.
Bond: How? … It’s tailored.
Lynd: I sized you up the moment we met.
Enough said.
